Don Rutherford – Executive Director

During Don’s tenure at the helm, West Coast has grown from being a small (but powerful) dealership to the UK’s #1 in 2020. He’s been involved in the motorcycle business since starting Scotbike in 1979 and then when the opportunity arose to join West Coast in 2003 he grabbed it with both hands. He has a passion for detail and CXI – or in other words keeping our customers happy! Don is now working with the senior management team at West Coast as our Executive Director and is still very passionate about our business.

David Hackshall – Managing Director

As part of our continued growth, West Coast Harley-Davidson is delighted to welcome David Hackshall as our new Managing Director (effective end of May 2021). David has many years' experience in the industry having run an H-D dealership early in his career before progressing to work for the Motor Company in Oxford, developing their business throughout the UK and Europe. Most recently David was the country manager for Harley-Davidson Canada having held the same role in the UK for almost 9 years.

Derek Muir – Head of Sales

Derek joins West Coast with over 33 years motor industry experience – spanning a range of previous work in the area of sales and operations management. A keen motorcyclist for nearly 40 years, he currently owns two Harley Davidson motorcycles; a Fat Boy Lo and Street Glide Special. His passion is motorcycling and giving customers the best possible experience. Combining each of these passions together at West Coast is his main goal of maintaining our position as the UK's #1 dealer.

Bruce Whyte – Senior Motorcycle Sales Advisor

Bruce joined us in May 2013 and since then has made many friends among our customers and staff. A Harley man through and though and a full on biker with a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. Now a seasoned campaigner - "Buckles" (so named for his liking of H-D belt buckles!) you'll find Bruce very easy to talk to and he really understands the full depth of our product range being a Harley owner himself. So far his favourite is the Softail Heritage Classic and likes nothing better than to spend a full day out on a bike. A family man who's made his way down fae Aberdeen and stayed in Glasgow - Abderdeens loss is our gain! Welcome to the team Bruce - great to have you here.

Scott Hendry – Motorcycle Sales Advisor

 Scott joined West Coast in March 2018, a keen Harley man Scott brings a wealth of automotive experience to the team. He's had his licence since he was a wee laddie and his first bike was a Honda CB250 Super Dream. Don't let that fool you he's ridden a few Harley's in his time and has owned a Sportster 48. His current favourite from our demo line up is a Fatbob because of the power, torque and noise it makes - give's him a cheeky grin. A frequent "Bike of the Week" presenter, you can catch Scott on our Facebook and Insta channels. Be sure to stop by and have a chat with him about any bike in our range. 

William Cairns – Motorcycle Sales Advisor

William joined the team back in April 2019. He started his career at 16 years old as an apprentice panel beater and rode bikes through this time. He took the plunge in 2002 and sat his test on an RD350 YPVS and progressed through a few different styles of bikes since including a Vespa PX200 which he stills owns. William came to West Coast from the car industry and hasn't looked back. His bike of choice from the store is the Street Glide Special or Pan America! 

ED THOMAS – MOTORCYCLE SALES ADVISOR

Ed joined us in February 2022 having spent 24 years in various motorcycling roles. He's spent many an hour in the saddle as a Motorcycle Riding Instructor and track coach, there's no one better placed to advise you on your next purchase. Ed's not new Harley-Davidson's having owned several before joining West Coast including an Anniversary Lowrider and a custom Fatboy. You can often find Ed exploring the West Coast on his favourite bike from our current line-up a 2022 Road King Special. 

Rhona Mathison – Finance & Sales Admin Assistant

When the time comes to buy your next motorcycle, you’ll want to make sure everything runs smoothly. Rhona has spent most of her career in the financial sector which means she is very well placed to ensure that every detail is taken care of. Her bubbly and friendly nature certainly keeps our customers very happy during their purchase!

Kathryn Russell – Finance & Sales Admin Assistant

A quick learner, Kat is already making an impact in both bike sales admin and talking to our customers about their finance options for both Moto and Harley bike sales.

John Weir – Head of Aftersales

You’ve probably heard this on more than occasion – “looking after our customers is of paramount importance to us and we know the value of a great customer experience”. John is a seasoned campaigner in the automotive industry and in particular the Aftersales role. He oversees our Parts & Accessories, Motorcycle Service departments and his role is to ensure that we’re focused on delivering a top notch customer experience every time. Since joining the team in June 2015, John has fully submerged himself into the motorcycling way of life and has recently just upgraded his 2020 Softail Breakout (supposed to be his forever bike) for a 2021 Road Glide Special - which we think is a fantastic choice! John’s role is to ensure his team deliver the highest standards of customer care and it’s not by chance that West Coast were awarded the UK’s #1 top dealership in 2020. John recently received another honour by becoming the first person in the H-D Network to become a qualified Master of Service

Alan MacLeod – Service Manager

Alan joined us in March 2021 after spending a very successful 8 years in a Senior Position with Edinburgh Harley-Davidson and we were delighted to bring such an experienced operator into our business. Recently Al advanced his career qualifying as a Master of Service in the H-D University. In Alans own words, working for the brand has always been more than ‘just a job’ for him, it’s his passion. A past Chapter Manager & Director of the Dunedin Chapter his whole family were fully emerged in the H-D lifestyle with his 3 daughters dressed in cuts from before they were walking… He fitted straight into the West Coast way of things as he shares our passion for customer service and will always go above and beyond to ensure maximum customer satisfaction every time. An owner of 8 Harley Davidsons in his illustrious past, watch this space!! He is currently being tempted to purchase his 4th Street Glide (his favourite model)

Eric McWaters – Rental Manager and Logistics

A well known face to many of our long term customers, Eric keeps tabs on our Rental Bikes operation as well as dashing about the countryside delivering these beauties to their new owners waiting with open arms - we reckon he's got one of the best jobs here actually. His experience with the brand (owning two Harleys® helps a bit too!) helps him give the very best of advice and of course help you get the very best of what Harley® and West Coast have to offer.

Alan Galloway – Customer Retention Manager

An extremely experienced Motor Industry operator with over 40 years’ experience Alan joined us in 2016. In his illustrious past Alan progressed his career from a Senior Technician, Workshop Controller up into Managerial roles. As he was an enthusiastic motorcyclist we knew we were lucky to gain such an experienced team player. For the past 5 years Alan has been providing excellent customer service to you all as our Head Aftersales Advisor and after a recent reorganisation, Alan was promoted upstairs to take on a brand new role as our Customer Retention Operator. Alan now looks into our database and contacts all customers who require their Servicing and MOT’s booked into our workshops. He also takes all incoming enquiries to the Service Department so you may not see him just quite so much on the showroom floor but call him anytime with any query and he will be delighted to help

Brian Stewart – Aftersales Advisor

Bikes are in his blood. Brian joined us in April 2018 after a long and distinguished career in the motorcycle industry with some well-known companies and worked with Don in the 90’s. As well as unbelievable knowledge Brian has a can do attitude and is more than willing to go that extra mile for anyone. Again totally fitting into the West Coast Way. Such a great asset to the team with his all makes know how… He’s our go to man for any part for any bike and he never lets us down. Last year Brian qualified as a Master of P&A as well as shown his willingness to learn all aspects of the Aftersales Department able to carry out all functions required by the team whether its parts or service.

Darren Heggie – Custom Specialist

Part of The West Coast Way is to promote our staff from within and that’s what happened when we appointed Darren from his previous role as a Technician to become our Customisation Specialist in the frontline of the business. Continuous improvements means continuous training and Darren has become our most recent Team member to gain Master Status in P&A. He is very much involved in our custom bike building programme, playing his part in design as bikes develop along the way and in 2020 he was responsible for building the UK Battle of The Kings winner, Bad Hombre. Like most of our employees Darren’s passion means he doesn’t just work from 9 to 5 through the week, he’s always looking at what’s happening in the motorcycling world around the globe. This means keeping an eye on what’s trending, an example being a Club Style Low Rider S with a Turbo Kit! Darren is definitely the man to make your custom dreams come true. Give him a call!

Keith Pyatt – Master Technician

Keith, our Master Technician, has 20 years of Harley-Davidson experience, and 15 of those years he’s spent with us. It’s such a pleasure having Keith with us every day as there’s not much he doesn’t know and he always offers well thought-out solutions. Such a dedicated individual who will always go above and beyond to ensure the job is done right. The man is a genius with a serious eye for the finer detail. Keith has completed many Harley® factory training courses (100% in the latest one!). Whatta guy - and he is all ours!

Jonathan Lawson – Technician

The future is bright at West Coast with the introduction of our youngest fully qualified Technician. Jonny joined us in March 2019, a difficult time for anyone to start a new job due to the global pandemic, and quickly set about implementing his H-D career path by attacking all the available online training that was available. His attitude has been exemplary and his improvement beyond our wildest expectations. Well done young man! With more Technical courses in the pipeline, we all know that one day soon he will be challenging Keith for The Master Tech stripes in the dealership. Watch this space…


Paddy Doherty – Technician

Pat was a good customer & frequent visitor with West Coast before joining the team in March 2017. He has been a great addition as not only is he a died in the wool Harley enthusiast, owner and rider but has a strong engineering and fabrication background. Pat has elevated our ability to customise in house to a much higher level. In his own words, “There is nothing that can’t be done”. He is the life and soul of the workshop with his ‘fantastic’ patter (...well that’s what we tell him anyway!)

Ryan Campbell – Apprentice Technician

Ryan joined the workshop team in June 2021. Currently in his 3rd year at Motherwell College he came to us after we advertised for an Apprentice Technician. Originally expecting to employ a teenager, Ryan stood out as the ideal candidate from the many people we spoke to. He attends college on a Monday, works with us Tuesday to Friday and is the father of 3 young kids… How’s that for dedication? A quiet man with an outstanding attitude he has been a very welcome addition. We are all looking forward to watching Ryan’s career progress and for him to become another future Master Technician at West Coast

Terry Hall – Apprentice Technician

Terry joined the workshop team in March 2022 as an Apprentice Technician. Terry has been working for over 16 years in the automotive industry. Terry started as a car mechanic for Volkswagen group but always had an eye for motorcycles. He started work in Aftersales within Harley-Davidson dealerships in England and Hong Kong before become a service centre for manager. Terry comes from Croydon originally and has relocated to Bonnie Scotland and joins our team ready to work on you Harley - welcome aboard Terry! when he's not working on your bike, Terry enjoys riding and maintaining his 2010 XR1200. 


Ross Walker – J26 Cafe Manager

Everyone enjoys a visit to our J26 café and Ross ensures that he serves up the best in biker food and coffees. A Harley owner himself we’re delighted that his talents have found their way to West Coast. Known for his artistic skills both behind the counter and on message boards and notices around the dealership – they’re all Ross’s work.

Alex Ward – Detailing Specialist

A keen biker, Alec has spent 14 years working in a bodyshop as a panel beater where attention to detail is essential - something we know our customers appreciate and expect and Alec is very good at doing. We pride ourselves on having high standards and if proof were needed we have it from those unable to visit our showroom but yet who have the confidence of buying from us on our reputation.

When not working on our sales bikes, Alec is riding them - in previous years he participated in the Make a Wish charity ride, clocking up 1,000 in 24hrs in a round the country ride and helping to raise over £5,000 for the charity in the process - what a guy!

Dan Flynn – Bike Detailer

Helping us keep our reputation intact for spotless presentation, Dan joined us as a part-time employee in 2018 to help us over the busy season but he proved his worth very quickly and now he’s on the team full time. You’ll see Dan beavering away helping Alex prepare all our pre-owned Harley's as well as all the other make part-exchanges we sell in Moto.

Craig Brown – Bike Detailer

Craig joined us in May 2021 having detailed bikes for over 15 years. Craig got his first bike when he was 4, a PW50 and hasn't looked back. As part of the Detailing team, Craig has quite an eye for detail and specialises in paint correction - turning lack lustre paint into a mirror finish. He currently rides an 07 Fatboy which he has plans lots of customisation for. 

Agnes Kruger - MotorClothes Lead

Ags became interested in motorcycles in her teens and even saved her student bursary to buy a 125. Ags has worked at various dealerships around Glasgow having started in a Clothing Department as a summer job, twenty years and several motorcycles later, she's worked across many areas of the motorcycle industry, from parts to selling motorcycles. Ag's now continues her career with us at West Coast as Motorclothes Lead. 

Francesca Dunn – MotorClothes Assistant

Frankii joined the team in motorclothes in 2019 and has become a firm part of the West Coast Team. A creative soul, Frankii brings an artistic eye to our clothing choices and can style anyone out in a new outfit for any occasion. She recently completed her CBT and hasn't looked back as she's taken to the road on her 125! Frankii hopes to get a Harley-Davidson of her own in the future - styled out in cobweb paintwork!

Rebecca Nisbet – MotorClothes Assistant

Although Becky is new to Motorcycling, she has a whopping 14 years experience in high-end retail. She has worked in Jewellery stores and fashion boutiques while studying and completing her degree in fashion. Becky enjoys being part of the team here at West Coast describing the team as more like a family and especially enjoys our events because she loves a good party. When she's not merchandising to perfection you can find Becky on any of our ride outs as a pillion.  

Elaine Forrest Finance – Admin Assistant

Elaine joined the team in 2015 to assist our Accounting Department, and works in the accounts and invoicing side of the business - also known as "The Brains of the Operation" ! One of the nicest people you'll ever meet, Elaine thinks of others always and does everything and anything she can to help out. You might see her out and about keeping us all in check - we need her to!

Evelyn Black – Company Accountant

Evelyn’s been in the automotive industry since 2001, beginning in motor auctions and moving to bikes by joining the family at West Coast in August 2020. A dedicated retired greyhound adopter for the last 16 years, she can be seen most evenings and week-ends walking the banks of the Forth & Clyde Canal exercising her beloved companions. Although not a bike owner, her appreciation of speed can be seen in her choice of pet.

Tom Nibloe – Ambassador

A suave and debonair part of the team - Tom is on hand to welcome visitors to the store as well as assisting with collection and delivery in our second fleet van. He has ridden motorcycles since he was a wee laddie and currently rides a customised Rushmore Ultra Classic Limited.  

Siân Flavell – Marketing and MotorClothes Manager

Siân has been a biker since 2001 and has been in the Motorcycle industry ever since. She started with the Harley-Davidson Brand in 2004 progressing from Accessories consultant to Group Aftersales manager at previous Harley-Davidson Dealerships. Siân joined West Coast in 2019 and you'll see her heading up the Marketing and bringing a wealth of experience to new and interesting events to the calendar - when she's not blasting around the West Coast roads on her self built Sportster. 

Connor Edenborough – Marketing Lead

Connor Joined West Coast in October 2019 as a Marketing Assistant and has progressed to Marketing Lead. It's safe to say there's not a piece of tech or creative that he doesn't know about and when he's not creating content Connor can be found exploring the West Coast on a Pan America.
